Bear at 10 months

Dec
27

Carson is continuously pulling up to standing now and is getting braver using hand(s) to reach and hold onto things while standing.  Love watching him imitate us clapping our hands and making mouth noises.  He loves to feed himself but hasn't quite figured out the chew and swallow before continuing to take more bites!

Playing together

Dec

Playing "with" Carson has typically involved when we touch a toy Carson grabbing it and wanting to play with it.  But a couple times now he has shared his toys and rolled them back and forth!  This was his first present from daycare he got to open early.

Approaching 10 months!

Dec

Carson is beginning to make more sounds and babbling noises.  He will take steps forward with assistance by holding his hands.  He is starting to cruise by walking along the furniture when tempted with a toy he wants.  He loves to feed himself small pieces of food and starting to like a sippy cup a little bit more.  Has started to clap his hands together more and is crawling all over the place.  We have started to keep all of our doors shut and he has figured out how to open drawers and cabinets!  He has five teeth and a six one will soon be here.  He has his first high temperature illness this weekend and has had lots of cuddle time, hopefully goes away soon!

Tradition continues

Dec

I love collecting ornaments as souvenirs from places we've visited and writing the date and who gave me specific ornaments. I still remember and Ross has the same ornament he got for his first Christmas. We decided we need to carry the tradition on and get Carson his first ornament as well. Our Christmas tree isn't fancy and doesn't have a theme but looking at it brings back such great memories.

Fun birthday times

Dec
18

Carson had a tease of Christmas at a friends one year birthday party and LOVED the wrapping paper.  I think he played with it for an hour or so before I took it away because he started to try to eat it.  It was fun to see him socialize with kids a variety of ages.  I like hearing the stories from daycare about him and his friends (last one was dumping the toys out of the containers so they could sit inside) but love getting to see it.  Back to the birthday party...Carson almost had he first kiss with the birthday girl but thankfully he started crawling away (we have a little more time!)

Hungry Hungry Boy

Carson had Cream of Wheat at daycare one day and loved it.  So we went and bought him some of it to try at home.  Lets put it this way, he is eating an adult sized portion all by himself at breakfast.  He even tried to feed himself the other day.  It mostly worked except when he put the wrong end of the spoon into his mouth or wasn't able to feed himself fast enough.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Dec

Carson liked watching the big snow flakes fall.  He sat by the patio door with me for 5 min and crawled back over there later to watch some more.  After debating whether to put up a christmas tree or not we put it in the corner of the dining room which is harder for Carson to get too.  He loved looking at and playing with the lights to help as we decorated.

Carson's first attempt at sledding wasn't a big hit.  He was a little on the tired side and didn't like feeling restricted in all the winter gear.

We started some of our Christmas shopping and tried to take Carson to see Santa for the first time.  He saw Santa and was fine but once on his lap the screaming started.  So no pictures to share for that experience!

9 months old

Carson's eczema has been doing a lot better with the perscription cream and aquaphor lotion.  We tried a soy based formula for about two weeks per our doctor with no real difference noted so back to regular formula (and appreciating its smell).  Just glad we can control it now and not have the open sores.

After a period of not sleeping through the night again we took our doctors advice and let Carson cry it out.  The first night I slept in the basement so I wouldn't have to hear him crying and after a couple nights of crying for periods he has been sleeping great.  He now takes two naps a day with one in the morning and one in the afternoon anywhere from 45 min to 1.5 hours.

Carson is on the move

  • Crawling all over the place
  • Pulling up to kneeling easily and occasionally up to standing
  • When holding his hands he will take steps at times
  • Have moved the plants, papers and a lot of the pretties out of the way but will still hear "no carson (occasionally the middle name too)"

He now has white

Dec

...in his mouth...It took Carson a little while to get his first tooth but now has been on the fast track and starting to get quite a few.  The first one wasn't very fun but since he's been a real trooper!  He's enjoying eating lots of new foods and more people food.  The only thing he doesn't like so far is bananas (he liked chunks of fresh banana at first but now spits it out but eats banana flavored puffs) and has liked the jello, pudding, cheese, grapes, turkey, potatoes, chicken noodle soup, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti...  He's also got me trained to give him puffs (pieces of cereal) at meal time when he starts to cry - I get to eat and he gets to work on his self-feeding skills :)
